PURPOSE:To eliminate sag of tape when a tape cassette is loaded by rotating a reel base in the direction taking up the tape. CONSTITUTION:A cassette holder 2 where the tape cassette 1 is inserted and held, is ascended/descended over the places between the loading position and the unloading position by a link arm 3 supported freely turnably around a supporting shaft 4b of a mounting plate 4a. On the other hand, another end of the link arm 3 is connected to a reel driving rod 6 through a connection member 5. A rack gear 6a is fabricated at one end of the reel driving rod 6 and engaged with a reel gear 9 mounted through a felt 8 generating an adequate slip torque on the reel base 7. A reel brake 11 is provided with the constitution mounted so that a biting force is exerted against the sagging direction of the magnetic tape and an evading force is exerted against the reverse direction.
