Reinforcement of overhangs of bridges. The device is of the type using, on either side of the central element of the standard type, widening elements (2, 3) which are solidly attached to the central element (1); the means for fastening the said widening elements (2, 3) is composed of a stay (4) fixed in its upper part by means for fastening to the overhang, and fixed in its lower part to prefabricated support masses (6) joined to the structure by friction using an external prestress.
