PURPOSE:To suppress steep rise of the cryostat internal pressure when a coil goes in quenching by twining together a plurality of superconducting element wires around a hollow reinforcing material having a hollow part provided for flowing of a refrigerant, and thereby accomplishing a compact and high pressure resistant structure. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor is so structured that a plurality of superconducting element wires 2b are arranged around one hollow reinforcing material 2a and are twined, a refrigerant 6 flows through the reinforcing material 2a. The element wires 2b are cooled indirectly on the wall surface of this material 2a cooled by the refrigerant 6. When superconducting coil is in the superconducting codition, a very small loss is generated in each element wire 2b, and the loss (generated heat) is conducted through the wall surface of the material 2a and absorbed by the refrigerant 6 flowing in the material 2a to be radiated to outside of the coil. Thereby the temp. of the wire 2b is maintained at normal value, and the critical amperage of the superconducting coil is also held at the specified value. When a quench is generated, the refrigerant 6 gasifies, but its amount remains slight, and steep rise of the cryostat internal pressure can be suppressed. |
