PURPOSE:To provide the color display device which is free from local unequal display and has a high display grade by constituting the display device in such a manner that light shielding patterns and the color filter patterns on the light shielding pattern are not formed in the parts overlapping on a sealing material. CONSTITUTION:A base material 1 is a transparent substrate formed by using glass and the plural color filter patterns 7 are disposed on the matrix over nearly the entire surface within a hatched display region 6 on this base substrate 1. A region packed with the sealing member 8 of a specified width is formed in proximity to the outermost frame of the display region 6 and in parallel with the outside frame. The region packed with the sealing member 8 exists on the extreme end 5a of the light shielding patterns existing in the part near the substrate end on the base substrate 1 and the sealing member 8 does not hold the color filter patterns 7 with the light shielding patterns 5. The cell thickness gap does not, therefore, receive the influence of the color filter patterns 7 at the time of controlling the cell thickness gap. |
