<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an ATM communication system capable of realizing communication between ATM networks without sacrificing quickness, large capacity and connection oriented character. CONSTITUTION:The system is composed of plural ATM-LAN 11 and 12 which respectively house plural terminals and are operated by asynchronous transfer mode and an inter-network connector 13 which is provided between ATM-LAN 11 and 12 to execute inter networking between ATM-LAN 11 and 12. The inter-network connector 13 does not process not less than an ATM adaptation layer concerning at least some packets of those sent from one ATM-LAN connected to the network connector to the other ATM-LAN but executes at least one of ATM headder reference or ATM cell switching among ATM layer processings.</p> |
