PURPOSE:To provide a small size inverter which facilitates a step-up/step-down operation, which does not generate an abnormally high voltage inside or outside the apparatus even if all the switching devices are turned off and which has a low loss and excellent controllability. CONSTITUTION:The primary winding of a transformer T is connected to a DC power supply through a radio frequency switching device Q0. An energy stored in the transformer T is discharged through a load circuit while the switching device Q0 is in an off-state. Switching devices Q1 and Q2 which make a current applied to the load circuit alternate with a period sufficiently longer than a period of the on-off switching are provided. Further, a power supply part (capacitor C1) which discharges a voltage induced by an energy stored in the inductance component of the transformer T when all the switching devices Q0, Q1 and Q2 are turned off is provided. |
