PURPOSE:To obtain a desired road traffic information from a beacon transmitter. CONSTITUTION:Symbolic data, which includes position coordinate and symbolic font of a beacon transmitter, is included in the map data of a CD-ROM 1, and at the time when a map image drawing unit 12 draws a map image of the surrounding of the present position in a first video RAM 17 on the basis of the map data of the CD-ROM 1, the drawing unit 12 draws a symbol of the beacon transmitter. The image drawn in the first video RAM 17 for one faceplate, which includes the position of a vehicle, is read out by a reading control unit 19, and synthesized with the vehicle position mark by a synthesizing unit 21, and thereafter, displayed by a CRT display device 6. When the traffic information is received and demodulated by a beacon transmitter 5, a traffic information processing unit 15 makes a traffic information storage unit 14 store this traffic information. When a traffic information call mode is set by an operating board 2, a traffic information image drawing unit 16 draws the traffic information image in a second video RAM 18 on the basis of the data stored in the traffic information storage unit 14, and the synthesizing unit 2 synthesizes the drawn traffic information image with the map information to display it in a faceplate. |
