PURPOSE: To provide the method and device for automatic frequency control which improve the reception reliability while reducing the degree of complexity of a reception end. CONSTITUTION: A convolution value between a channel characteristic value and a transfer function of a modulator on the transmission side of a communication system is used to modulate again a binary data string outputted from an equalizer 301, and a reference phase is obtained by this modulation and is compared with a reception phase to calculate a phase error value. The phase error value is converted to an analog control voltage after being converted to a frequency error value and is impressed a voltage controlled oscillator. For the purpose of implementing this method, the automatic frequency controller includes an equalizer 301, a channel characteristic estimating part 302, a remodulator 303, a phase comparator 304, a frequency error estimating part 305, a digital-analog converter 306, etc. Thus, this method has an advantage that the reception performance on the reception side is improved, and digital implementation is possible, and the device is constituted of a single chip. |
