PURPOSE:To increase the initial activity and to improve the reliability of the performance by including 0.05wt.% or more of hydrogen in a hydrogen storage alloy, and combining the mixture which consists of the powder of the above hydrogen storage alloy, an Ni powder, and a high polymer binder, integrally to a collector. CONSTITUTION:When 0.05wt.% or more of hydrogen is included to a hydrogen storage alloy, its powder can be manufactured as a product including a specific hydrogen including amount by controlling the heating and the vacuum condition, when it is in a hydrogen removal process in the vacuum condition by absorbing the hydrogen. The resultant hydrogen storage alloy powder including the hydrogen is used together with an Ni powderor fiber, and a binder which consists of a resin such as ethylene or Teflon is mixed to form a mixture, which is combined to a collector integrally so as to form an electrode. By using this electrode as a negative electrode, the conductivity is not disturbed by the surface oxidization membrane. Consequently, an electrode which can suppress the influence by the oxdization membrane, can increase the initial activity, and has an excellent reliability of performance can be obtained. |
