PURPOSE:To provide a back light device capable of increasing the photo-quantity released toward the front and a liquid crystal display device using the back light device. CONSTITUTION:A light source 2 is provided at the end face of a light conductive plate 1 in flat form, and the light emitted from this source is led from the end face of the plate 1, released to ahead thereof, transmitted by a light diffusion plate 6 installed on the facade of the light conductive plate 1, and cast on the specified area to constitute a back light device, wherein an electroluminescent lamp 10 in flat form is provided on the back of the light conductive plate. Thereby the light given by EL lamp installed on the back of the light conductive plate will be released to the front surface throught the light conductive plate, which causes the EL lamp to complement the shortage of light quantity, so that is is possible to increase the light quantity heading to the front surface of the light conductive plate. |
