PURPOSE: To obtain a temperature-compensated voltage regulator which can generate a low voltage from an extremely high input voltage by coupling it with the output terminal of a current mirror and the control input terminal of a voltage buffer and also with the low-current output terminal of the voltage buffer through a resistance. CONSTITUTION: This regulator is equipped with the voltage buffer 20 having a high-voltage input terminal HVIN, the control input terminal VG, and the low-voltage output terminal VREG. A voltage generator 22 which generates a reference voltage is coupled between the low-voltage output terminal VREG of the voltage buffer 20 and the input terminal of the current mirror 24. The current mirror 24 has a common (ground) terminal and the output terminal coupled with the control input terminal VG of the voltage buffer 20. The resistance RL couples the output terminal of the current mirror 24 with the low- voltage output terminal VREG and an adjusted output voltage is generated between the low-voltage output terminal VREG and common terminal. A current flowing through the resistance RL develops a control voltage VG which is a voltage drop across the resistance RL lower than the adjusted output voltage.
