The back (1) of a motor vehicle seat has side members (2) and at least one crossmember which are provided with a pad (3). Integrally formed on the side members (2) and on the crossmember is a receiving element (6) which runs along these latter in each case and has an outwardly open, U-shaped fastening channel (7). Formed on its two opposite walls are in each case a plurality of catch projections (8) lying one behind the other and having a bearing shoulder (8') adjoined in each case at an acute angle by outwardly extending guide faces (8''). In addition, a pad (3) is covered by a pad cover (4) which is fastened by a number of pad pins (10) spaced apart one beside the other. The latter have on their longitudinal shank (10') a radial thickened portion (11) which, after insertion of the longitudinal shank (10') into the fastening channel (7), the bearing shoulders (8') of the catch projections (8) engage behind in catching fashion. <IMAGE>
