The invention relates to a solid tyre consisting substantially of rubber or elastomeric materials, having a tread strip, a base layer and a base layer reinforcement of textile or metallic reinforcing elements. To permit automated production of the base layer reinforcement, it is proposed that the base layer reinforcement comprises an at least single-ply band which is produced by winding a length of material comprising a plurality of filaments or wires or cables arranged in cord position in a plurality of turns and which extends over at least 20% of the axial width of the base layer.
