The invention relates to a process for the surface treatment and wear-resistant coating of opening rollers for open-end spinning, consisting of a metallic basic body and of a wire clothing fitted as crude wire, characterised in that a) the opening roller is introduced into a sealing bath, in such a way that this sealing bath fills even the smallest cavities between the crude wire and basic roller body, b) the opening roller is rinsed off clean on the outside, c) the opening roller is subjected to a heat-treatment step, and d) the opening roller thus pretreated is deburred in a way known per se and is provided with a wear-protection coating.
