A joint sleeve (10) in the form of a coil made by helically winding a covered heating element wire (1). The wire (1) has a linear heating element (2) formed with an oxide layer (3), a primer layer (4) provided on the outer periphery of the linear heating element (2), a heat resistant and electrical insulating fiber layer (6) bonded to the primer layer (4) through a polymer layer (5), and an outer covering layer (7) made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin. The coil has at least part of the adjacent turns of the covering layer fused together. Such a coil or sleeve (10) is integrally provided on the inner or outer surface of a tube fitting (20, 30) made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin.
