A description is given of a composite material comprising at least one textile fabric (2), consisting of fibres of synthetic polymers, and at least one textile fabric of inorganic fibres (1), the textile fabrics of which are joined to each other by yarns. The joining of the textile fabrics is preferably performed by sewing (stitching), knitting or stitch-bonding. The composite material can be used in particular as a supporting ply (lining) for the production of roofing membranes.
