<p>The power converter, comprises an input for accepting a DC voltage and a power transformer including a primary and secondary winding. A power switch periodically connects the input to the primary winding and an output accepts a load to be energised. A clamping limits a voltage across the secondary winding during a specified interval of a cyclic period of the power converter. A rectifier circuit connects the secondary winding to the output. A synchronous rectification device is connected for enabling conduction from the secondary winding to the output during operation of the clamp during the specified interval. A low forward voltage drop bipolar diode is connected for enabling conduction from the secondary winding to the output during a second interval other than the specified interval.</p> |
