PURPOSE:To obtain materials which are superior in oxygen permeability and transparency and are not made cloudy in water, by forming materials with a copolymer consisting essentially of a specific ester methacrylate containing silicon and fluorine. CONSTITUTION:The copolymer is prepared which consists essentially of an ester methacrylate containing silicon and fluorine expressed with a formula I where (a) and (c) are integers 1-3 and (b) is an integer of 1-10 and (d) is an integer of 1-3. Lens materials for eye consisting of this copolymer have a high oxygen permeability and are soft to be superior in wear comfortableness and are useful for contact lens materials especially, and these materials have a little affinity for lipid and is hardly polluted with eye mucus or the like because fluorine is introduced in essential components of the copolymer constituting these lens materials. |
