<p>1471224 Cleaning trickle filters A SCHREIBER 21 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27766/74 Addition to 1391691 Heading C1C Accumulated sludge is removed from trickle filters having a forced air flow and abrasion resistant filler material by filling the filter with water and blowing in air, separating the sludge from the rinsing water and filler material and then draining off the rinse water, the agitation of the contents during sludge removal being accomplished in a zone moving horizontally through the filter. In apparatus described a rinsing arm centrally pivoted moves over the cylindrical bed of the filter and pipes hanging from the arm are used to introduce rinse water, stir the filler and are fitted at the top with sludge-removing arrangements.</p> |
