An image forming apparatus, e.g. laser printer, to which a process cartridge (B) is detachably mountable, includes a device for mounting a process cartridge having an image bearing drum comprising a helical gear, a feeder for paper and a projection device for projecting image information light onto the paper in a direction from a projection reference disposed at one side of an axis of the image bearing member to the other side.
