<p>A compound heat exchanger comprises heat exchange units 10, 11 and 12 having a heat conducting piece (1, figure 2), a film evaporation surface (2) a film absorbing surface (3) a conducting separator (4) and an insulating separator (6). A working substance comprising a mixture of a refrigerant (e.g. ammonia) and an absorbent (e.g. water) is used to cool "a". The working substance is collected in pans 7 and 9 as g1 (with large water content) and g2 (with low water content) respectively. Substance g1 is passed over surface (2) of unit 10 and is dehydrated and cooled by a portion a1 of air "a" and so cools incoming air at a2 flowing in adjacent channels. This dehydrated g1 is collected as g2 in pan 9. Similar cooling of air "a" occurs in units 11 and 12 using air "b". Substance g2 is fed to absorbing surface 3 in unit 12 where it absorbs water from the air "a" and is then collected at pan 7 as g1. <IMAGE></p> |
