<p>A benzimidazolocarbocyanine dye represented by the following general formula (I): <CHEM> wherein R11, R12, R13 and R14 each represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group; X11, X12, X13 and X14 may be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an unsubstituted alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group, a hydroxy group, a cyano group or a halogen-substituted alkyl group; Y represents an ion required for balancing charge; and m represents 1 or 2, and when the compound forms an inner salt, m is 1, and a silver halide photographic material containing said dye.</p> |
