SLIDING MATERIAL, ITS PRODUCTION AND APPARATUS FOR THERMAL FIXING

PURPOSE:To provide a sliding material which can exhibit stable frictional properties from the initial stage of sliding, is improved in wear resistance but yet does not impair the mating sliding member and provides improved starting torque characteristics when used in a thermal fixing apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A sliding material obtained by applying a dispersion prepared by dispersing a powder of a polytetra-fluoroethylene resin of a weight-average molecular weight of 100000-1000000 in water or an organic solvent to the surface of a base material made of a heat-resistant synthetic resin such as polyphenylene sulfide and firing the applied dispersion is provided. A thermal fixing apparatus wherein at least one member selected from among the shaft 2a of a heat roller 2, the shaft 3a of a press roller 3 and the sliding bearings 4 and 5 which support their axes and made of the above sliding member is provided.
