PURPOSE:To use more efficiently gas generated from an inflater in an air bag. CONSTITUTION:An opening 2 is disposed in a rear portion of an air bag 1, and a vent hole 5 is disposed on a side face. Portions on both sides with the vent hole in between are sewed together with a thread 5. The thread 6 breaks off when the gas pressure within the air bag 1 exceeds a prescribed value (5-70KPa). Accordingly, the thread 6 keeps the vent hole closed until the air bag is sufficiently evolved, so that the air bag evolves rapidly. When the gas pressure within the air bag 1 exceeds the prescribed value, the thread 6 breaks off so that the gas within the air bag 1 flows out. Shock to a passenger in thus absorbed. |
