PURPOSE:To reduce residual stress of the surface of silicon carbide in a graphite member coated with silicon carbide by chemical deposition method to prevent cracking and, as a result, to prolong the life of the graphite member coated with silicon carbide. CONSTITUTION:When the above graphite member is used, surface roughness Rmax of at least the surface of a base, at which cracks readily occur, before coating, is made >=100mum. |
