PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of density difference in a recording image due to the use frequency difference between respective emitting orifices by providing an emission recovery means emitting a recording liquid droplet regardless of the recording to a medium to be recorded and variably controlling the amt. of an emitted liquid droplet at a time of empty emission at every emitting orifice among. many emitting orifices corresponding to a recording image. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 1 has many ink emitting orifices. A recovery unit 11 equipped with a cap part 10 is provided at the home position of a carriage 2 and, in order to eliminate the emission inferiority of an emitting orifice low in recording frequency, the emission of ink to the cap part 10 is performed. The emission amt. of the ink at a time of this empty emission is controlled corresponding to image data and the emission amt. of the ink from an unused emitting orifice (group) is largely set. Or, it is judged whether an image is a character image and the emission amt. of the ink at the time of empty emission is controlled under respective conditions. In this case, an emitting amt. may be variably controlled corresponding to the kind and size of a character. |
