<p>PURPOSE:To remove an odorant from an odorized gas such as city gas or LP gas. CONSTITUTION:A mercaptan as an odorant is selectively removed from an odorized fuel gas such as city gas or LP gas in an oxygen-free atmosphere in the presence of a zeolite ion-exchanged with hydrogen and/or a polyvalent metal ion other than an alkaline earth metal ion. The metal contained in the zeolite ion-exchanged with hydrogen and/or a polyvalent metal ion other than an alkaline earth metal is desirably at least one member selected from among Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Sn and Zn. In this way, the odorant is efficiently removed from a fuel gas such as city gas or LP gas to form an odorless fuel gas as a hydrocarbon substitute desirable as a propellent for e.g. a spray can, a refrigerant or a fuel for a gas air conditioner.</p> |
