Preparation of supported sulfur compositions

A solid combination of elemental sulfur and an inorganic support material (preferably alumina), is contacted with at least one liquid C5-C12 alkane and/or cycloalkane, followed by substantially removing the C5-C12 hydrocarbon from the thus-contacted solid combination of elemental sulfur and inorganic support. This process improves the trialkyl arsine absorption capacity of the solid combination.
