PURPOSE:To detect a toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) gene of Staphylococcus aureus. CONSTITUTION:The oligonucleotide capable of selectively hybridizing with a TSST-gene produced by Staphylococcus aureus (sequence Nos. 1-4) is prepared and used as a primer for amplifying a gene. Thereby, only the TSST-1 gene of the Staphylococcus aureus causing the food poisoning is selectively detected.
