The invention relates to an adapter plate for simple insertion in and removal from a conventional axial press. Using the adapter plate, an axial press is extended by use of wobble-pressing technology, so that both customary pressing methods can be carried out together in one axial press. The design features of the adapter plate are based on complete separation of the drive assembly for the wobble press by the adapter plate. In this way, both pressing methods can be used together even where it has previously been necessary to forego one of the two pressing techniques, mainly because of the high investment costs. <IMAGE>
