The present invention relates to a transmission device for transmission between a primary drive shaft and an output shaft for driving the wheels of self-propelled machines. This device of the type comprising a worm and wheel-type reduction gear combined with a cone-type clutch contained inside a casing through which the output shaft passes is characterised in that interposed in succession along the said shaft (4) between the cones (10) and the bearing (3) are respectively the fork (16) for cancelling the effect of a bending movement of the shaft (4) and a movement-absorbing member (18, 13, 19) radially immobilised on the said shaft (4) held free to rotate by means of a spacer piece (17a, 17b) which can move axially and is self-centring and/or kept centred with respect to the said shaft (4).
