<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic-tape recording and reproducing or reproducing apparatus which can deal with a plurality of recording modes and in which the time from loading of a cassette to coming of the picture is short. CONSTITUTION:During loading of a tape, the angle of inclination of a head drum 7 is changed into an angle in (b) smaller than a normal angle shown in (a) and the scan direction of heads A1, B1, A2, B2 is caused to coincide with the direction of the track 25 of the tape 4. Thus, a recording mode discrimination signal on the tape 4 is read during loading and the number of revolutions of a drum is changed to that corresponding to a discriminated recording mode so that the picture can come on immediately at the time of starting of the travel of the tape after the completion of loading.</p> |
