<p>The present invention relates to a compact device for holding and for transporting a large number of markings for electric cables. Each marking is a profiled element which is provided with an identification and is placed on a cable or a marking bearer which is to be mounted on the cable. The device contains a number of holding plates (1), each having a plurality of zones containing the respective marking groups. The holding plates (1) are mounted in a rotatable manner on a common bearer (3) so that they overlap and can be turned over like the pages of a book.
