PURPOSE:To check the memory capacity of the memory cards having different internal structure by a simple device when an accordant algorithm is carried out as necessary by an algorithm executing means through an algorithm holding means. CONSTITUTION:An algorithm is carried out by a CPU 14a through a ROM 14 serving as an algorithm holding means for the memory capacity check, etc. Then the memory capacity is checked by the memory reading/writing operations since the difference of memory cards 3 cannot be identified from the external appearance of these cards. For instance, the least memory capacity and the memory capacity are assumed to be 8 bytes respectively. In one of types of cards 3, an optional number is written in the head address and the memory data are read out in the addresses where nothing is written. Thus the optional number is read out and a fact is known that no memory capacity exceeds 8 bytes. In other types of cards 3, the memory reading/writing operations are impossible. |
