发明名称 PLANAR LIGHT WAVE CIRCUIT MODULE
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of the planar light wave circuit module by coating a part enclosing the planar light wave circuit part and a connecting part of the planar light wave circuit and optical fibers with metallic foil or coating these parts with metal, thereby preventing the entry of moisture and obviating the deterioration of the parts of the internal adhesives, etc., by direct exposure to moisture. CONSTITUTION:The planar light wave circuit module is constituted by coating the entire part thereof with the metallic foil 5, thickly solidifying both ends thereof with the plastic adhesives 61, 62 so as to prevent the entry of the moisture. The optical fibers 31a, 31b, 32a, 32b are led out of both sides of these adhesives 61, 62. A copper foil cylinder having 50mum thickness is used as the metallic material of the metallic foil 5. The planar light wave circuit module is put into the copper foil cylinder and the margin part of the foil 5 is folded. The copper foil is used in the embodiment and since the metal is generally low in moisture permeability, not only the copper but many metals, such as aluminum, are usable as well.
