In an electrical odometer including a speed information sensor (14), means (1, 15) for transmitting this information to a stepping motor (10) to drive a set of display cylinders (12), and means (1) for controlling the motor (10), the control means (1) include means (3 - 7) for controlling the acceleration of the motor (10). The latter may be a low-pass filter (3 - 5) which rounds off pulses supplied by the sensor (14) prior to their being amplified and fed to the motor coil (11).
