In summary, the invention provides for a method of lifting and lowering bulkhead partitions by the bulkhead partitions being lifted by one or more cylinder arrangements so that the bulkhead partitions are released for "free fall" by the cylinder arrangements in order to meet with a resistance, as a result of which deposited solids fall off the partitions.
