In a trailer hitch (11) connecting a towing vehicle (35) and a trailing vehicle (61), each "coupling" member of each vehicle (35, 61) has a support component (12) and an attachment component (13). An adapter (10) is interposed between and attached to the support component (12) and the attachment component (13) of one member. The adapter (10) has a guide plug (37) telescoped with the support component (12) and an adjustment portion (39) coupled to the attachment component (13) and hinged to the guide plug (37) for lateral movement. A pair of angled faces (63) on the adapter (10) serve to cam the components into axial alignment as the towing vehicle (35) and the trailing vehicle (61) are brought closer together. The adapter (10) is capable of both axial and lateral, swinging movement for easy vehicle attachment. |
