<p>A fabric laminate (10) is disclosed which is formed of stretch fabrics (11, 12) laminated together by an adhesive web (13) having differential stretch characteristics. One or both of the stretch fabrics (11 or 12) may include an elastomeric yarn. The adhesive web (13) is placed within the fabric laminate (10) with its primary elongation direction being in a predetermined direction, in conjunction with the orientation of the primary elongation directions of the fabrics (11, 12), such that the resultant elongation characteristics of the laminate (10) are combinedly determined by the fabrics (11, 12) and the web (13) as well as the predetermined orientation of their primary elongation directions. The laminate may be used for forming the control panel (21, 30, 35, 42, 58, 78, or 80) of women's undergarments (20, 50 or 70) such as the stomach, thigh or rear control support of a panty (2) or the undercup (58) or side support (78, 80) of a brassiere. The adhesive web (13) which unites the two fabrics (11, 12) forming the laminate is an open film of heat sensitive adhesive which may be formed or polyamide material.</p> |
