Direction indicator and hazard flashing light system for a motor vehicle

The system, consists of a load-controlled flashing transmitter 1, a hazard warning switch WBL and a direction indicator switch RBL. A dedicated, load-controlled flasher current path R1, R2 with dedicated current interrogation is provided for hazard warning and for direction indication, the paths R1, R2 being connected separately but synchronously by means of a double contact flasher relay 3. A relay contact 3.1, connected to the hazard warning switch WBL, is connected directly to the power supply ZU whereas a relay contact 3.2, connected to the direction indicator switch RBL, is connected via an ignition switch to the power supply ZU. The separate current interrogation makes it possible to differentiate between operation of the direction indicator switch and operation of the hazard warning switch. In a modification (Fig 2), this current interrogation is used to detect simultaneous operation of the two flasher switches such that the flasher relay 3 is inactivated and is thus opened, while a flasher current is supplied into the direction indicator path from an auxiliary clock transmitter (2.6) so that the direction indicator switch overrides the hazard warning. <IMAGE>
