A gripping arm (4) for a rock drilling equipment or the like provided with a cartridge for rods. The gripping arm (4) comprises an abutment jaw (13) mounted longitudinally displaceably. A clamping jaw (12) secured to a clamping cylinder(11) forces a rod (6) against the abutment jaw when the rod is gripped. Aligningopenings (13a to 13c, 11a, 11b) are bored in the body of the abutment jaw (13) and in the frame of the clamping cylinder (11). The openings (13a to 13c, 11a, 11b) corresponding to each rod diameter are aligned with each other, aligning pins (16) are inserted through the openings, and the abutment jaw is tightened immovable by bolts (15).
