<p>The invention provides a balanced modulator, which has at least one individual amplitude modulator (230) which does not provide a suppressed-carrier output. One example employs a single amplitude modulator (230) whose carrier input is selectively delayed a half wavelength by a delay element (260), depending on the output of a polarity detector (220), and whose amplitude input receives the absolute value of the modulated input signal. Quadrature amplitude modulation or single sideband modulation may be provided including the above modulator.</p> |
