PURPOSE:To detect a relation between an ink particle generation phase and the phase of a recording signal stably and correctly by calculating a count value based on a binary level signal obtained from charge amounts of two particle groups excepting printing ink particles, which are divided by a specific method and characterized. CONSTITUTION:All of a first ink particle group A, being composed of continuous six particles selected from among ink particles other than printing ink particles 6a on the basis of a chopper signal S7 having a predetermined phase, are electrically charged. On the other hand, all of a second ink particle group B composed of succeedingly continuous six particles are not electrically charged. Then, according to a detection signal generated corresponding to the charge amounts of the particle groups A, B, a binary level signal S11 is generated corresponding to the charge amounts. Furthermore, based on a count value obtained on the basis of the signal S11, a phase relation between a phase of generating the ink particle 6 and the phase of a recording signal S9 is detected. Therefore, a relation between an ink particle generation phase and the phase of a recording signal can be detected stably and correctly without being affected by a noise. |
