PURPOSE:To provide a hollow molded object reduced in impregnation defects or voids, enhanced in reinforcing effect and excellent in surface smoothness. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing fiber yarns 2 and thermoplastic resin fiber yarns 3 are braided into a cylindrical shape so that reinforcing fibers are arranged only in one direction to form a unidirectional sleeve l which is, in turn, heated alone or in a state laminated to the other sleeve under pressure to integrally melt thermoplastlc resin fibers to form a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin hollow molded object. Since the reinforcing fibers 2' are arranged only in one direction in the fiber reinforced resin layer 1' formed by molding the unidirectional sleeve 1 under heating and have no mutually crossing points, the generation of impregnation defects or voids is reduced and reinforcing effect is enhanced because the reinforcing fibers are not bent in the thickness direction of the molded object and excellent surface smoothness is obtained.
