PURPOSE:To perform easy and high-yield production of cyclic amines which are useful as a synthetic intermediate for dyes, agrochemicals, medicines or the like in an industrial scale by reduction of imides such as succinimide under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An imide of formula I [A is a group containing 1 or more rings selected from the group consisting of formula II, formula III, formula IV (R<1> to R<3> are H, 1 to 30C aliphatic hydrocarbon, aryl), aromatic ring, cyclohexane ring, cyclohexene ring and condensed ring; n is 1, 2] is catalytically reduced in the presence of a metallic catalyst such as Raney nickel or copper at 100 to 400 deg.C under a hydrogen partial pressure of 1 to 500kg/cm<2> to give a cyclic amine of formula V. As an imide of formula I, are cited succinimide, 2,3-dioctylsuccinimide, maleimide, phthalimide. The cyclic amine of formula V is, for example, 3-octylpyrrolidine, octahydroisoindole, or 3,4-benzopyrrolidone. |
