PURPOSE: To provide a method of manufacturing a rigid cover for a vehicle roof which can be very simply manufactured and assembled out of especially fewer individual components and a cover manufactured according to this method. CONSTITUTION: A gap seal 3 has a U-shaped reinforcement 20 on the inside and a profile area on the inside in the shape of a hollow chamber seal 22 made of sponge rubber on the outside and is manufactured in the shape of an co- extruded profile with an interior elastomer-made profile area 10 surrounding a glass panel 2 and the rim of a base frame 15, which is delivered as one module with four corners flexed into a frame still open on the posterior lateral side, then during assembly this module is laterally attached to the rim of another module composed of a glass panel 2 and a base frame 15 and the open frame ends are glued and screwed together.
