PURPOSE:To treat water without using acidic and alkaline chemicals by electrolyzing raw water having a carbonate component in an anode compartment to obtain acidic water, decarbonating the acidic water and electrolyzing the decarbonated water in a cathode compartment to obtain neutral or alkaline water which is taken out. CONSTITUTION:The raw water contg. carbonate components such as industrial water and city water is introduced into the anode compartment 1a of an electrolyitc device 1 from a pipeline 11 and electrolyzed to obtain acidic water, and the acidic water is supplied to a degassing device 2. CO2 dissolved in the raw water and a part of CO2 formed by the electrolysis are removed from the raw water as the gas in the device 2. The acidic water contg. a trace amt. of CO. remaining after electrolysis in the device 2 is then introduced into the cathode compartment 1b of the device 1, and the acidic water is neutralized with the OH<-> generated by electrolysis to obtain neutralized water or alkaline water which is discharged to a storage tank 3. The treated water is then successively treated in reverse-osmosis membrane devices 5 and 6 and taken out as pure water. |
