PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented film containing a phosphone compound having a specific structure and agglomerated particles, having high scratch resistance of the film surface and useful for magnetic recording medium having excellent picture quality and drop-out characteristics. CONSTITUTION:The film contains a phosphone compound having both carboxyl group and phosphonic acid group in the chemical structure (e.g. the compound of formula) and agglomerated particles having primary particle diameter of 5-100nm (preferably zirconia, alumina or silica). Preferably, the film further contains monodisperse particles having particle diameter of 0.1-2mum (e.g. calcium carbonate particles) and the obtained film constitutes one of the outermost layers of a laminated film composed of at least two or three layers. |
