PURPOSE:To reduce the frequency of recording paper feed stops caused by occurrence of jamming by a method wherein whether a paper feed abnormality is eliminated within a fixed period of time is judged based on the detection result of a paper detection sensor, and a paper feed processing is brought to a stop if the judged result is negative. CONSTITUTION:A printer control part 26 detects an abnormality of jamming by detecting a leading end of paper by a paper feed sensor 29 and monitoring a time by a timer 26a. If identifying a failure to eliminate jamming after a fixed time counted by the timer 26a by the detection result of the paper feed sensor 29, the printer control part 26 stops a recording paper feed action. If the paper feed abnormality is spontaneously eliminated, the detection result of the paper detection sensor is reversed. From this standpoint, the spontaneous elimination of a paper feed abnormality is detected by a judging means, whereby the paper feed action is continued. In this manner, when a paper feed abnormality temporarily occurs but is spontaneously eliminated, a conventional abnormality stop processing is not conducted. As a result, the frequency of abnormality recovering operations by a user is reduced. |
