This is for bi-axial oriented polyester for magnetic tape having good smoothness of surface. In polymerization step, kaolin that ratio of particle size is 1-1.35 and Morse hardness is over 6 is added to polyester resin as activator. The requested condition of kaolin particle is as follows; 0.4<=DA<=0.8, 0.5<=DB/DA<=1, 0.10<=WA<=0.20, 0.5<=WB/WA<=1.0, 0.4αA, 1.79 βA/DA<=5.77. DA and DB is average particle size ( m), and WA and WB is weight percentage of kaolin based on polyester.
